5 Ways To Supercharge Your Morning Routine
The way I set my “intentions” may look different from yours so whichever way you choose does not matter, the main idea is to place attention on what is most important for that specific day. This is NOT a TO DO list! I do not even focus on goals initially. At this stage, I focus on GRATITUDE. When you are in a place of gratitude just try to be negative. It is IMPOSSIBLE! I chose to journal, but you can think about what you are grateful for if writing it down does not work best for you. I typically write 3 things I am grateful for each day. Now if I wrote what I am grateful for in general each day, then they would be similar each day...my health, my children, my husband...so I approach this differently. I must write the 3 things I am grateful for that are specific to that upcoming day. I think of it as listing why my life is great and why. It allows me to think about the day ahead and focus on what I am most thankful about, while getting excited about what is to come. Then, when whatever I wrote down actually happens, I am much more aware and appreciative in that moment. Next, I write 3 ways I will move closer to my goals. This is an automatic reminder for me to revisit my goals in order to stay on track of my life vision. This takes about 15 seconds and really keeps my goals in the forefront of my mind. By organizing myself this way, I can prioritize not just a typical “To Do” list, but the few action steps that will break down my high level goals into achievable baby steps. Lastly, I choose one person for the day and write one way I can make them happy. It can be as simple as saying a kind word or reaching out to an old friend. It is about being intentional and creating that habit to change the world one person or thoughtful action at a time.
